A PICTURE-POSTCARD FARM
Unterbergerhof
Unterbergerhof is one of the oldest and most traditional mountain farms in Val di Vizze. It is stunningly located around 1,450 metres above sea level, and is reached along a panoramic road that winds through an idyllic Alpine landscape. Built over 600 years ago in typical South Tyrolean style, Unterbergerhof is a listed building that blends harmoniously into the surrounding landscape.
Alpine farm
Many generations
For many generations our Alpine farm has been owned and lovingly taken care of by the Hofer family. Beside animal husbandry, which is still our main source of income, we also rely on the natural cultivation of raspberries in the nearby greenhouse for additional income. In 1995, we decided to renovate the four holiday apartments in accordance with the strict requirements for the protection of historical monuments. The result is a masterfully balanced blend of traditional architecture and modern comfort.
A CHILD-FRIENDLY PARADISE
Where farm spells fun
Farm holidays in South Tyrol are becoming more and more popular, especially among families. No wonder! An original Alpine farm has lots to offer for young and old. Children have countless opportunities for play and fun, while adults can look forward to hours of peace and relaxation. There’s plenty to do together, too: this breath-taking landscape offers a variety of family-friendly experiences, ranging from educational to adventurous. Around our farm there are exciting hiking routes and numerous attractions, including ancient castles, the impressive Mining Museum of Ridanna and the Museum of Hunting and Fishing at Castle Wolfsthurn in Mareta. Get ready for a great day out!

ANIMALS AND CHILDREN
Team Awesome
True to tradition, our family’s farm in Val di Vizze is home to many animals, with cows, goats, cats and fowl sharing the stable and meadow. This is a wonderful opportunity for your children to discover first-hand where our good, healthy milk comes from, or how many eggs a hen can lay. Sometimes there are also piglets at our farm – really funny and adorable to watch!Getting up close with animals is both entertaining and a valuable educational experience. It helps us realise that while animals can be fun and cuddly, taking care of them is a great responsibility. We can give your children a guided tour of the farm, where they get to meet all the resident animals and learn how the various farm activities are performed. By prior arrangement, you and your family are also welcome to help with stable work for an unforgettable, authentic experience.
Hofer Family
your hosts
We love nature, our farm and music! We grew up on farms, but we haven’t always been farmers. Egon used to work as a bank clerk and Marika was a kindergarten assistant, but now we run the Unterbergerhof farm with passion and enthusiasm. Marika was born in the farmhouse, which is a listed building, and we have renovated it with great care.

Egon tends to the animals and fields, and also runs a minibus service for students and guests. We also love playing music and singing. As Miguel de Cervantes once said: “He who sings frightens away his ills”.

Marika happily looks after our guests and makes our delicious farm products – with active help from her two sisters during the summer season. That’s life on a farm: we stick together!

Hi, my name is Jonas. I was born 1998. I’ve successfully completed my training as a cooking assistant and I now work in a canteen for people with disabilities. I used to play the flugelhorn in the village band. I don’t do that any more, but I’m a passionate accordion player and singer, and I am also in a choir.

Hi, I’m Miriam. I was born in 1999. My dream is to work with children, and I have completed all the required training. Now, all I need is a bit of luck to find the right job. I am in the village band and local choir, and I am also a member of the local female farmers’ organisation. I play several instruments: flute, guitar, electric guitar and oboe. I also love animals, especially Maila, my dog. She is a very nice dog, she is young and playful. When she is insecure she barks, please ignore her and remain cool.

Hello, I’m Patrick and I was born in 2000. Due to a metabolic disorder, I have had motor difficulties since I was eight months old. I couldn’t walk until I was six. I’m still at school and I use a computer to do my homework. I am the one who drives an electric car. So, if you see me... make way!

Hi, I’m Jakob. I was born on Valentine’s Day 2006. I’m still at school, but I’m looking forward to an apprenticeship and I’d like to find a job as soon as possible. I really enjoy driving a tractor and helping my father in the stable. I also love walking in the forest and carving wood. The goats on our farm belong to me, and they are my favourite animals.
